Check out this little video of Reke and McGee working out with trainer Rob McClanaghan (via Dime Mag):
I don’t know if it’s just the extra medium workout shirt Tyreke has on but he looks HUGE. He’s definitely added some muscle to his frame this off-season. I’ll have more on that this week but I feel bad for the point guards in the NBA for now.
The form looks so much better than it did last season. He’s not bringing the ball behind his head and his shooting arm looks to be a lot more straight up and down.
I’d like to see his form when he’s shooting off the dribble to see if it stays true to what we see here. But in terms of sheer structure of his jumper, this is a big step forward in making him a complete offensive force. Keep working, Reke.
The Boost Mobile Elite 24 is a nice little get together for all of the best high school talent in the country. This year, some pros showed up to take on the youngsters and Tyreke Evans was one of those pro players. His team was comprised of himself, Brandon Jennings, DeMar DeRozan, Bobby Brown and John Wall.
Check out this video of some of the highlights. Tyreke has a few moves (including a much better looking jumper) at the 23-second, 1:06, 1:39 marks:
I’ve discussed this before and I’ll say it one more time. I think it’s stupid that people have to lobby for awards in the NBA.
Especially when that someone (Tyreke Evans) has been the runaway candidate for Rookie of the Year. I guess history by a rookie is questioned by some when the competition for the award is a point guard who had an embarrassing shooting stretch over the course of three (!) months and the other is a player who has put up numbers almost as impressive as Tyreke’s numbers, only for two fewer months.
Regardless, Tyreke Evans’ ROY campaign has been going on for the past few weeks and now is really getting going with the guys from Dude Perfect joining forces with Evans.
This was my favorite video because you got to see some of the personality that Tyreke has, which he rarely shows. He’s so about business and getting the job done that it’s nice to see him cut loose a little bit. Hopefully as the Kings get better over the next couple years, we’ll see more of this side of him.
All in all, there are six videos with trick shots. You should definitely check them out and check out StandWithReke.com. Lots of good, fun stuff going on with this Rookie of the Year campaign.
In case you missed it, check out the move that Tyreke Evans put on Ron Artest during the early stages of last night’s game:
Now that is a hell of a move.
During the T’Wolves game on Sunday, I was talking to super-Kings fan (Jason) about how Tyreke Evans needs to learn from the Tony Parker spin move. Usually when he spins, he’s a little off balance in the lane and it either results in him getting fouled, him putting up a semi-awkward shot inside or him finding an open man on the perimeter.
But watch this move again and check out his footwork. It’s perfect on this play. Most guys would put their right foot down to balance themselves after the spin. The problem with that is it would be the third step on the move and you’d most likely be called for a travel unless your name is LeBron James or Kobe Bryant. However, Tyreke is so strong that he’s able to take all of the momentum and keep his left foot down to plant off the spin and go straight up. Not a lot of guys have the coordination to do that.
I believe this is one of the moves in the game that caused Kobe Bryant to describe him as a “grown ass man” after the game.
By the way, my favorite part of this play other than the move is Francisco Garcia’s reaction. He either went into convulsions or didn’t know what to do with his hands.
