Sam Amick catches up with Ricky Rubio at the airport.

Bee exclusive: Rubio reacts to Kings workout

Pretty interesting stuff by Sam as he catches Rubio at the airport to find out how he felt about his Kings workout. It seems like nothing went all that well (but not all that bad either) and the Kings could be even more confused about whether or not they’d take him if he’s available.

At the same time, it could all be posturing to keep Memphis from feeling like they have complete control with the second pick.

Working Ricky Rubio out by himself is like test driving a sports car without getting out of second gear. He is at his best making teammates better. It better be posturing on the Kings’ part because they’d be insane to pass on him.

Interesting article by hollinger saying that the knock on Rubio is he doesn’t score well… great in playing point, but doesn’t put any in himself

Ricky Rubio is exactly what the kings need. he’s like Jason Williams without the 3 point shot being taken with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. we already have scorers with Martin and Garcia with some potential down low. there is just no one to give them the ball when they can shoot.
KINGS ALREADY HAVE SCORERS, THEY NEED A POINT GUARD.

I completely agree with you. Not only is he the play-making, potential star point guard that they desperately need but he’s also an above average defender. That’s huge. How many times have the Kings been beaten off the dribble at the top of the key because they didn’t have a point guard who could defend (Beno, Bibby, J-Will, etc.)? Rubio slows that down considerably.
