Tyreke Evans’ Jaw Injury

As you know by now, Tyreke Evans took an elbow (not intentional) from Ersan Illyasova during the Kings double OT loss to the Bucks Friday night.

The word after the game was a chipped tooth, gum laceration, concussion and a possible broken jaw.

Well the update today is that Tyreke Evans has a bruised jaw line and will be out for about a week according to Jimmy Spencer of NBA.com. Jimmy received the news via text message from Evans’ brother.

Not nearly as bad as originally feared.

Thank you for saying it wasn’t intentional. People at StR are taking his scowl a little out of context. I could find 4 billion pictures of players scowling when they’re trying to get a loose ball.

@Aykis16 I’m saying the same thing in my writeup Aykis. It clearly wasn’t intentional.

Definitely unintentional. If I had $5 for every time a good friend elbowed me in the face during a pick-up game, I’d have a hefty sum. But they never meant it. Sometimes it’s just part of the game. This game, in particular, was a close one. Of course guys are going to be fighting for the ball! They want that W! I’m so glad to hear Tyreke will only be missing a week or so. Now he can finish off his 20, 5 and 5 rookie season and put himself with some elite company. And since Big O did it with the Royals, 2 of the 4 who have done it will have played for the Kings franchise.
