From SlamOnline: Carl Landry’s Best Is Still to Come

With a hat tip to Mr. Ziller at StR, check out this piece about Carl Landry on the Kings by Wendell Maxey over at SlamOnline:

“Carl pretty much gives everybody fits. He knows his way around the low post and is explosive. He’s already made a name for himself in this league only in his third season. He’s competitive and has a real skilled offensive package. Carl’s our best low post player, no question about that,” said head coach Paul Westphal.

You can read the entire piece here and I encourage you to do so.

I don’t think it’s any coincidence that since Carl Landry joined the team, the frontcourt has been a lot more active and reliable. Landry is exactly what you want Spencer Hawes and Jason Thompson to become. You want them to be aggressive and confident in their offensive abilities and to show it every night. Landry goes after people. He doesn’t take what the defense gives him; the defense takes whatever he gives them. And that’s often a good number of points.

Landry has really impressed me, I had decided even before he got here that I would hate him on principle because he was the guy replacing Martin. But my God what a great player, he could play with any team and be completely comfortable. He’s an amazing low post player and just what the Kings needed. Not to mention a pretty good defender, shut Bosh down completely last night. The team has looked great since he has arrived. I’ll be mad if we don’t pick up his team option.
