This is a great article, not only for putting Casspi's entrance into the NBA into historical context, but also for describing basketball fandom in Israel.

I was very saddened to learn of the heinous defacing of Casspi's face in Sacramento, and as an American felt ashamed. In the U.S. we welcome people of all colors and creeds (despite what headlines might lead you to believe), and fans of the NBA are happy to have more international interest in basketball because it increases the talent pool and, in turn, the quality of the game.

Nice. The best read in a long time (Bill Simmons doesn't count, he is my after-school drug dose). Now we just have to petition for Noam to get a blogger logo and stuff on the DDL.
Actually, this reminds me of the time when Biedrins first came in the NBA and my whole country went nutts. Not to mention, the Dallas series, I don't think anyone slept at all during game 6. Don't worry, Israel, in ~3 years it won't be as exciting and you will get a good nights sleep

A pretty good article, and only a couple of grammatical mistakes. But who really cares about Noam's father's opinion ("the reddest of red flags") after he has watched 5 minutes of a game?

And having a Hapoel fan write "the definitive article" about Omri Casspi is absolutely ridiculous.

I've been waiting for Noam to pop up on the network. You didn't disappoint - great article Noam. Particularly enjoyed the bit about Kevin Martin being public enemy number one.

Hey Zach- I got Noam's point and I'm glad you got him to contribute a post before he goes back to school or work or whatever in March. I have become a fan of the DDL chats and Noam is becoming an international star. If people aren't talking about their teams they're talking about Noam or more likely Noam's talking.

The contrast in POV's between here and Israel about Omri is really interesting. I'm not sure it's possible for a star in the US to capture our nations interest the way Omri has captured Israel's. Many King's fans don't realize that Omri competed and succeeded at such a high level in Europe.

Loved Noam's dad quote about Omri "looks like an idiot and plays like a punk". Our Omri? Nooooooooooooooo! The kid does have some swagger although I thought he was looking a little overwhelmed at the H.O.R.S.E. game in Dallas but I thought he was great in the Rookie/Soph game. The only thing about Omri that I'm worried about is his growing bald spot. I'm glad the Kings got him and think he's going to grow into a heck of a good player.

Thanks for getting Noam to contribute an Israeli's take on Bom-ri and tell Noam that I'm enjoying his stuff (and yours as well) on DDL.
